Shampoo goes in their eyes, and they scream all the way through the shower. It is very upsetting to me, as I think if the aides would not be in such a hurry and take a little time with them, this would not happen. It breaks your heart. I am a caregiver, and I have witnessed first hand the attitudes and actions of the aides in the so-called "nice" private facilities as well as in the medicaid facilities. Even the expensive facilities are guilty. I read somewhere that Alzheimers patients get scared of bathing because they're worried about falling or drowning. They also start having perception issues with their vision so the tub might look SOOO deep and scary to them.
