I was thinking back to a time when we saw the first warning signs that my dad might have Alzheimer's Disease. I spoke to Gary and Marla Colton, of ComForcare in New Jersey. They gave me some really great information on safety tips and warning signs for anyone who has a loved one with Alzheimer's. This short interview is worth listening to even if you don't live in New Jersey. It can help us all give better care to our loved ones.
If you live in the New Jersey area, you should give them a call and they can provide more help.

Thanks for sharing. Your journal of your trip should help give others tips on how to cope and let them know they don't have to fear trips with Alzheimer's patients. Just realize they're off on an "adventure." My husband and I traveled with my mom and her cat when we had to move her to our home. That was an adventure, and I do have to admit I was glad it wasn't an overnight one nor any longer than 7 hours. (Mary Emma of Alzheimer's Notes) After that Mother became a very impatient traveler, even for short trips.
